Our pets are very important to us. They’re our furry children. And I’m sure there isn’t a single one of us who wouldn’t go to any length for our dogs. And it was this kind of dedication that drove one dog owner to jump into a raging stream of water to save his swept-away pup.
The terrible episode occurred in the Panamanian district of San Miguelito, when the Sinai River overflowed due to heavy rains.
Calderon had anticipated Fulo would be able to cross the river without difficulty; but, the river’s current proved to be too strong for Fulo, who immediately vanished beneath the water with a yelp.
Calderon reacted swiftly and dove into the deep water in pursuit of his dog, eventually catching up with Fulo. Calderon and Fulo made it back to a nearby bank safely, with camera footage showing the dedicated pet owner carrying Fulo to dry land.
“I was focusing on the dog,” Calderon told local reporters. And thank God I was able to snag him… I flung him onto the bank and walked away after a few meters.”
Despite the fact that the rushing river could have killed both Calderon and Fulo, the dog owner said that the risk was the furthest thing from his thoughts and that all he wanted to do was save his pet.
“An animal, merely for being an animal, does not deserve to be disregarded,” Calderon said, “because it is a life after all.” I request that you look after them because they have feelings as well.”
Calderon was claimed to have been abandoned as a youngster and raised himself, making his bond with Fulo all the more unique.
Calderon has joined the Department of Animal Welfare, according to the city’s mayor, Hector Valdes.
Fulo is an extremely fortunate dog to have such a loving owner. Hopefully, these two were able to dry off and move on from the experience.
