While some dogs run about in their yards, these German shepherd puppies cruise around in a train built by their fur dad.
Mariano and Esmerelda Rendon of Shavano Park, Texas, enjoy spending time with their grandchildren, dogs, and trains. They loved it so much that they built this fantastic train that runs on lines that loop around their property, giving them possibly the coolest backyard in town.
Rendon began working on his train project some time ago, but because to the covid lockout, he now has more time to devote to it. He’s created an incredible backyard railroad with over 1,000 feet of track.
The fact that his German shepherd pups and granddaughters fit perfectly into the cars that they ride around Salsa Tracks, as the backyard railway is known, is maybe the finest part. The puppies are so enamored with their train that they occasionally fall asleep while riding it.
Abrams and Bradley, 11 weeks old, are riding about the yard and just chilling out, enjoying their journey. They appear unconcerned about the railway, but they have no notion that not all dogs get to ride in backyard trains.
Rendon has big ambitions for Salsa Tracks, including expanding and laying new tracks. We can’t wait to see what else he has planned for his grandchildren and puppies.
His newest section of the railroad is called “Corona Pass,” in honor of the season which has given Rendon so much extra time and energy to build into it. You can see more of his project in the Background Railroading group on Facebook.
