Hannah Foraker, a 21-year-old Army Pvt., and her dog Buddy have a strong attachment. Hannah and the 13-year-old Golden Retriever had grown up together, and Hannah had never been away from home until she recently left for three months of basic training.
Buddy was overjoyed when she returned home for a visit and saw Hannah was there. “We put her outdoors when I got home, and she didn’t recognize I was home at first,” Hannah told ABC News. “She then did a double-take and returned to me.” She began crying and wailing at that point. She was ecstatic.”
Buddy, who has arthritis and is mostly deaf, was Hannah’s constant companion throughout her visit. Hannah thinks that each time she sees Buddy, it will be her last, so she uses Skype to communicate with her. And, as you can see in the video below, they make a point of holding hands and hugging each other.
