The Foothills Animal Shelter in Lakewood, Colorado, encountered a sweet pit bull that appeared to be in need of assistance. Betty, the pit bull, was walking around outside in the cold, looking hungry and concerned. greatergood.blog.theanimalrescuesite.com
Betty had recently given birth, but she didn’t have any puppies with her, according to the staff.
The personnel hoped that the female dog had her puppies safe somewhere, but they also understood that they needed to move fast to reunite the mama dog with her pups.
“During my checkup, the first thing I saw was that she was nursing,” Foothills Animal Shelter veterinarian Claire Vaiden stated in a YouTube video. Her mammary tissues had a lot of growth, which indicated that she was feeding some very early puppies.”
The employees were very eager to find the puppies before it was too late, especially since snow was anticipated.
They determined the best line of action was to return Betty to the location where she was picked up in the hopes that she would lead them to her puppies.
Betty was reunited with her four three-week-old puppies as soon as she was returned to where she was found, which was a happy ending.
“We went Betty back to where we discovered her in the hopes that her maternal instinct would lead us to her babies, and that’s exactly what occurred,” the shelter’s marketing and community engagement manager told Daily Paws.
All five canines were returned to the shelter for check-ups, a safe place to stay out of the elements, and a whole lot of affection. Rose, Blanche, Sophia, and Dorthy were the pups’ names, all of which were inspired by the Golden Girls.
Naturally, the mother dog was given the name Betty after Betty White, one of the most well-known Golden Girls actors.
Thanks to the great personnel at the shelter, all four babies and the mama dog were successfully adopted into loving forever homes. The puppies’ fate could have been lot worse if they hadn’t been so diligent and determined.
