Helpless dog, she travels 600 kilometers by plane to be loved and protected in the last moments of her life. It was a long journey, but she needed to make that trip so as not to go to heaven without the warmth of someone who loved her unconditionally, writes fancy4work
Despite the enormous work of rescuers and foundations dedicated to saving street dogs, there are many who never manage to find a family. This was the unfortunate case of a dog named Ashlyn.
The dog waited for a long time for the opportunity to have a family
She spent most of her life with the New England Humane Society . She was very sweet and loving, but for some strange reason no one seemed willing to give her the opportunity she needed so much.
Unfortunately, they left her aside while she watched the other puppies from the shelter leave to start a new life of happiness with her family.
After many years, Foundation employees began to notice that something was wrong with Ashlyn’s health . The dog was very weak and she barely had enough energy to eat.
They took her to a vet, where they discovered that her issues were considerably more severe than they had anticipated.
The dog had advanced cancer, and her body was being covered in an alarming number of tumors. The veterinary professionals did not give her a positive prognosis due to her precarious health.
The poor thing had only a few weeks remaining and hadn’t received the affection she deserved. They started working right away to make sure that she could leave feeling loved despite her condition.
She had only a couple more weeks to live, but the rescuers decided that they would not let her leave this world without knowing the wonders that every puppy deserves.
They found a family willing to give him love during his last days, but the problem was that they were more than 600 kilometers away. There was no time to lose so they contacted Paul Steklkenski.
This dedicated pilot is the founder of Flying Fur Animal Rescue . Ever since she got on the plane, sweet Ashlyn had a wonderful time. Paul gave her treats whenever he saw her nervous and a couple of hours later he delivered her into the arms of her new mother: Tracy Lancer.
She has made the delicate little dog gain weight and is full of energy again. She doesn’t really know how much time she has left, but what they do know is that she is happy now and she loves giving kisses to her new family.
“Now he knows love. No matter what happens she will depart this world knowing that we love her very much,” Tracy said.
It is unfortunate that Ashlyn had to live her entire life in a shelter; we hope she can continue to experience all the affection she receives in her new home.
We hope that hearing about his tragic tale will encourage people to adopt puppies and make a difference in their lives.
Just like this little dog, there are many others who are hoping to have a family and who need it more than ever. All homeless dogs deserve to have the opportunity to go to a home where they are offered excessive love regardless of their condition.
It is never too late to have a gesture of solidarity like this, to give a puppy the joy of being loved. In zoorprendente we admire and applaud the work of this team of heroes who fought for Ashlyn to have a worthy game, but above all, the comfort she needed so much at such a difficult time for her.
