A.ban.doned puppy found in coma makes miraculous recovery thanks to loving support

A cardboard box was found by the side of the road near a dumpster in their neighborhood on a chilly Winter night. They went to investigate the mysterious box and discovered a dog inside. He appeared to be dead, but he wasn’t. Francis’ story frequently goes like this:

Francis was found cold and motionless, and was assumed to be dead. Fortunately, the pair saw that the puppy was breathing…

Francis was given to Community Animal Rescue & Adoption, Inc. (CARA), a local no-kill animal sanctuary in Jackson, Mississippi. A trip to the clinic verified that the puppy was caught in a deep coma while still alive.

Though he was non-responsive, the people at CARA did everything they might to bring him back to health. He was kept warm and cozy . And, on Valentine’s Day, a celebration was held in his honor.

When he awoke, he went home with a group of CARA volunteers to advocate for 24-hour care. He had a feeding tube for two months and had trouble standing. He did, however, receive physiotherapy from an exceptional human, and he quickly progressed from opening his eyes and raising his head to standing independently.

His owner Harriet Scott says:

“We were fortunate to be picked to adopt this remarkable dog that had become such a celebrity.” But to us, he’s just Francis, a sweet, energetic dog who enjoys running and playing outside, napping on the couch, and living the life we wish all homeless animals had.

Our family wouldn’t be complete without him; he has such a lot love for people because it’s the love of individuals that saved him.”
