Shiver Stray Calico Kitten Shows Up At Fire Station Asking For Help

When a group of Canadian firefighters went to work that day, they weren’t expecting anything unexpected. However, fate seems to have a strange way of putting great things in the hands of good people.

When the officers saw a shivering calico kitten staring longingly through the station window on a cold, snowy evening, they brought her in and gave her a lot of love and attention because firefighters are used to helping people.

Because she was so affectionate, they all assumed she was a lost pet, so they started posting missing pet articles on various social media platforms.

Therefore, when no one claimed this adorable calico kitten within a reasonable amount of time, the firefighters turned into animal rescuers and took it upon themselves to care for her forever, giving her the name Ember.

First they took her to the vets, she was given a good bill of health except for her slightly frostbitten ears.

Then she was immunized and given antibiotics for ear mites. Later on she was spayed.

They gave Ember a much-needed bath after that.

The fire department posted a message on their Facebook page, “She had a bath and smells much better than when she showed up at our door.”

She also won over local social media users when she appeared frequently on their Facebook page with “Ember Alerts” like this one:

“Embrer went to Pet Vet in Steinbach yesterday for a spa day (actually a spay day). She is recovering well. She just wants to play, so we have to remind her that she has stitches!

Even though it was impossible to give this affectionate calico kitten a lot of attention throughout the day, she adored living in the fire station and was loved by everyone there.

There had to be a choice.

“The station is not staffed continuously because Steinbach does not have a full-time fire department,” says the article. “A calico kitten like Ember needs a lot of love and attention, and the station can unfortunately go days without someone being there.”
