The Clydesdale horse is magnificent, stately, and powerful. But who knew they were also hilarious?!
This iconic Budweiser commercial from 2005 portrays the infamous Clydesdale horses in all their splendor, enjoying a snowball fight on a winter day. I adore it no matter how many times I watch it!
Did you know that? To honor the repeal of Prohibition, August A. Busch, Jr. and Adolphus Busch III presented their father, August A. Busch, Sr., with a six-horse Clydesdale hitch on April 7, 1933. Recognizing the commercial possibilities of a horse-drawn beer wagon, the Clydesdales became in high demand, attracting large crowds of delighted onlookers as the hitch traversed the country delivering cases of Budweiser. Anheuser-Busch now has about 250 Clydesdales. According to its press release, “they continue to be an enduring symbol of the brewer’s heritage, tradition and commitment to quality.”
