Kayakers save elderly dog who had run away from fireworks

When kind kayakers saved a lost and terrified puppy from the banks of an Iowa river, it was a very lucky day indeed.

Since running away in 2021 after being startled by fireworks on July 4, Ethyl had been missing for about a week.

She was discovered limping and covered with ticks 15 miles from her house by a party of kayakers who were paddling down the Chariton River in Iowa.

Jessica Rose and her pals realized Ethyl had a collar and tag with her family’s phone number on them while they were bringing her onboard one of their kayaks. Rose called them to let them know that their dog was okay and made plans to meet them further downriver.

In a TikTok video she shared about their excursion, which received more than 100,000 views, Rose stated, “Her mom was so excited I could hear her screaming through the phone.”

The buddies had to convince the anxious Ethyl to unwind and enjoy the journey because the next rest stop wasn’t for four hours. Eventually, she did, sipping water and munching on Cheetos.

Ethyl’s rescue was documented on Tiktok (TikTok)

She’s incredibly sweet, and we love that she’s going home. She’s going to take a bath because she has to. added Rose.

Despite having scrapes, bruises, and dehydration, 10-year-old Ethyl arrived home safely and was reunited with her family.

Later, Rose updated her TikTok account, letting users know the puppy was okay and had survived the incident.
