2 German Shepherds Dumped In Mountains Survive 2 Weeks Before Heroes Pull Off Monumental Rescue
|Who could be so cold-blooded? Two young male German shepherds were thrown in the rugged mountains off Highway 50 in California by their owners. When people saw them near Bridal Veil Falls and tried to get close enough to aid them, the two puppies would flee, terrified, back into the deep and treacherous terrain.
Animal rescuers knew capturing the terrified dogs would be difficult, but they were determined to do everything they could.
The dogs were malnourished the longer they remained in the wild. Their metal chain collars had started pressing farther onto their necks, which was particularly unsettling.
Incredibly, they were able to survive for at least two weeks together.
Officers from Animal Services combed the area every day, knowing how tired and hungry the puppies were.
They, on the other hand, refused to take the bait and avoided the humane traps.
As a result, the team had to think outside the box to save their lives.
El Dorado County Animal Services Chief Henry Brzezinski told CBS Sacramento, “It boggles my mind to watch people abandon animals, just dump them.”
Fortunately, it appears that the German shepherds will be adopted together as soon as they gain a bit more weight.
Hopefully, the person who dumped them there will be apprehended.
