Little Boy Refuses To Leave Injured Stray Dog Hit By Car Until Help Arrives

After assisting an injured stray dog, a young Syrian refugee named Hüseyin el-Hasan has restored our confidence in humanity. As a Syrian, he and his family have seen heinous actions and know what it’s like to be caught in the midst of a conflict. Hüseyin has been through more tragedies than anybody else in his life. Fortunately, the family was able to find refuge in the Turkish city of Kilis, where they now reside as refugees. Despite his difficult upbringing, the young man’s concern for those in need has not waned.

Hüseyin hurried to rescue a doggie struck by a car near his new home after seeing it hit by a car. He returned home, grabbed his blanket, wrapped it around the dog to keep it safe, and then alerted the adults to call for assistance.

He didn’t hesitate to share his only blanket with the poor dog, even though his own house was having heating issues. Hüseyin remained by the dog’s side while waiting for the rescuers to arrive.

Animal care staff arrived after some time to transport the dog to a nearby veterinarian. Unfortunately, it was too late, and the dog died. This broke the little boy’s heart, but it was because of him that the dog was able to see some kindness in her final hours.

His deed of kindness was not forgotten, of course. Cuma zdemir, the city’s deputy mayor, paid a visit to Hüseyin at his home to honor the boy and his family. Although the boy’s action may seem insignificant to others, zdemir believes it exemplifies humanity’s best qualities.

Hüseyin was given a new blanket and other gifts, as well as the message that his actions that day exemplified the best of humanity, and that we all need more of it in our lives and communities.

One would think that someone who had a difficult childhood and was surrounded by cruelty wouldn’t know how to be compassionate, but Hüseyin never lost his goodwill or willingness to love.

Kilis residents and Hüseyin’s family are all proud of this young hero. He is an example of how we can all live by the ideals that young children have.
