Officer Risks His Life And Dashes Onto Busy Interstate To Save A Dog

A police officer in Florida has been hailed as a hero for his fast thinking and actions. He dashed onto a busy freeway and rescued a dog who had been by a car.
Officer Joseph Puglia of the Pinellas Park Police Department claimed his heart “truly dropped” when he saw him breathing. According to Timothy Robert from theanimalrescuesite. , the event occurred on Monday when the dog went out onto Interstate 275.

Puglia can be seen pulling over to the side of the road shortly after the dog was hit. The moment he saved the puppy is captured on video from his dashcam. Puglia covered the dog in an emergency blanket, loaded him into the SUV, and called 911.

“The team at the Pinellas Animal Hospital was notified of the incident by our communications department and they were awaiting Ofc. Puglia’s arrival,” wrote the Pinellas Park Police Department on Facebook.

Fortunately, this dog has only minor cuts and bruises. “After some medical examinations, the dog is expected to fully recover.

“This incident is just another example of the dedication and compassion our officers have for our four-legged friends. Great job to Ofc. Puglia.”
