Hero Yorkie Fends Off Attacking Coyote To Save Her 10-Year-Old Owner

To protect her young owner, Macy fought a dangerous coyote — what a brave little dog!

Nothing compares to the bond that exists between a youngster and their dog. Every child should grow up with a dog since they are not only wonderful friends but also fierce protectors of their masters, eager to put themselves in harm’s way when necessary.

That’s what one tiny but brave dog proved this week, when she protected her 10-year-old owner from a coyote while also suffering injuries.

Macy is a six-year-old Yorkie mix who lives in Scarborough, Toronto, with her owner Dorothy Kwan and her family.

Macy was out for a stroll with the family’s 10-year-old daughter recently when things took a turn for the worse when the kid came face to face with a wild coyote.

But, miraculously, the small dog rose to the occasion and fought the coyote to protect her owner.

The video is upsetting: you can see a coyote attacking Macy in the background while she pleads for rescue.
But, in the end, it’s Macy who emerges victorious from the battle: Macy continues to bark, and the coyote ultimately flees, as though driven away by the smaller dog.
Dorothy Kwan told blogTO, “You can see our dog placing herself between my daughter and the coyote.” “She continued to bark and chase the coyote away even after she was gravely injured. She retaliated.”
Even though Macy managed to dodge the coyote, she was left with serious injuries. “She suffered severe injuries to her torso and leg,” Dorothy wrote. “She is undergoing surgery for her wounds at the emergency animal hospital.”

Dorothy was heartbroken, knowing that her beloved Canis Minor had been injured in order to save her daughter’s life. “My heart breaks for both my baby and our five-year-old rescued dog. I’m a single parent with two children and a dog who mean the world to me.”
Macy was taken to an animal hospital, where she was treated for her injuries, but the bill was thousands of dollars.
But when the family set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the finances while also sharing Macy’s amazing story with the world, people responded: the page has nearly $20,000 in donations, more than double its original target.

Even better, according to Dorothy’s updates on the fundraising website, Macy is reportedly healing beautifully.

“Her fever has subsided, and she has regained her appetite,” she wrote today. “I couldn’t be happier with her. When she returns home, no coyotes will want to meddle with her. My fiery young lady has the potential to be a genuine fighter. I adore you a great deal. You’re going to do it!”
